| Here is a full description of the ‘Broadband
for Life - Business’ video.
SCENE 1
Cramped office at home, hallway in view, a doorway is visible crowded with piled boxes. The camera moves in between the many piles of boxes into the office to focus on a man behind a desk. The room is very cramped and feels claustrophobic. Sitting rather uncomfortably, 'Milo' is dressed in black shirt and trousers. He is stamping boxes as they fall from the top of the screen and signing various forms. He is also on the phone as the camera moves further into the room.
Video commentary begins; "So you're in business, any business. Another day, another dollar. Fun, isn't it? Wouldn't it be nice if something new came along, something exciting?"
A luminescent silvery box falls from above, the words 'break' 'free' fading in and out on the front. Milo drops the phone and stamp and begins to examine the box.
"Something that made your day enjoyable. Made growing your business easier. Made your business processes happen, at the touch of a button".
The box magically dissolves and a button remains – it is round, grey with the insides glowing red. Milo bends to look at the button at table top level.
"Broadband, now that's interesting. Well go on, press it."
He tentatively presses the button. The background music changes and becomes more positive and upbeat. The table falls away into the floor, and all the elements of the office fold away as if made of flat card, leaving Milo standing in an open space surrounded by turquoise sky.
SCENE 2
Milo is now standing in an empty space surrounded by turquoise sky. He begins walking, cityscapes become visible in the far distance, and phones begin to spring up from the bottom and top of the screen. Some are cordless and others are not. They are all ringing.
"A new customer, and another one, lots of them."
A red laser-like light begins to move around the phones leaving a trail. More phones spring up.
"You can talk to them, you can talk to more of them with broadband."
The camera follows one of the beams of light as it speeds towards the cityscapes in the background. First we see local Welsh landmarks such as the Millennium Stadium, then London and further afield.
"Not just your local market but further afield."
The camera continues to follow the beam as it travels to the furthest cityscape featuring the Statue of Liberty and the Sydney opera house.
"...even the whole world."
Camera follows the beams as they return to Milo. Plasma screens appear floating around him, and the faces of customers appear on them, talking to him, though we can't hear them clearly.
"And now you can see them wherever they are, without leaving your desk."
Voice of Japanese man becomes audible, but Milo can't understand Japanese. Video cuts to palm held computer featuring the broadband button. Milo touches the button.
"You're learning more about what your customers want..."
...and suddenly the power of broadband translates what the Japanese man is saying – 'can you make them in blue?'
"...so you can tailor your business to deliver it."
Camera switches back to Milo, and bubbles appear around his head with various symbols and diagrams representing ideas for boxes, financial matters, technical equations and delivery.
"It's now even easier to share that information, to show people all that important stuff going on in your head. Let them know what your're thinking, and act on it."
Milo is looking very confident and makes a phone call.
"And here's the interesting bit."
Duplicates of Milo appear doing various office type jobs, representing the idea that he can multi-task. Many production lines are moving along in the background and more red laser beams interweave throughout the scene as the camera pans across.
"You're using the same thing to give your customers what they want, as gave you the time to find what they really wanted in the first place."
SCENE 3
Camera switches to look down on a sketch pad as Milo draws the broadband button on it. It suddenly animates and he presses it. The camera zooms out looking directly down on Milo. From inside the sketchbook many documents fly out and arrange themselves in the air and the camera pans across several of them. They show various graphs and pie chart animations such as increased profit versus sales, tax return forms, sales and growth charts and VAT forms.
"Of course you're going to have to do more now. But that's okay, because you can do more. Because broadband gives you the ability to do more. Yep, that's the idea, broadband is constantly helping to run your business."
SCENE 4
Cuts to a gallery with two couples looking and pointing to a colourful box design on the wall that looks like a piece of Pop Art. A man and video camera appear from the right. We zoom into the viewing screen on the video camera, which is focussed on the box design.
As the main camera pulls back, we find that the image of the Pop Art box design has now become part of a website on a PC screen. It's a website called 'boxes4u.online' that allows the user to pick and mix patterns and then order their chosen box.
A female customer is selecting patterns and then uses the broadband button on the web page to purchase the box.
"Do we smell success? I think we do."
A red laser beam travels back to Milo who is smiling looking upwards as he finishes his phone call.
"Now that'll take some managing won't it? Maybe not."
Further red beams appear from Milo to connect to his support network. They fly off through typographic messages including 'Internet banking', 'data backup', 'online advice', 'web based research'. The beam joins with many others forming a huge web-like network.
"Got the hang of this broadband for business business?"
Beam shoots out towards the viewer – screen turns white and Broadband button appears.
"Good."
SCENE 5
Finger pushes the broadband button as the camera retreats, revealing that the button is on a laptop.
"That's broadband for life then."
As Milo closes the laptop, we see that he is sitting in casual clothes in his kitchen, from where he's been running his business. He relaxes.
Children can be heard laughing in the garden calling "dad, dad".
A football is accidentally kicked into the room which hits him gently on the head and lands in his lap. He laughs, grabs it, jumps up and runs outside to go and join the laughing kids in the garden.
